My first visit to Argeles as a vacationer was in 1994, and the memory I have of it, long afterward, is the immense pleasure I had going to the beach with my family. I've read many books about this sand over the past 30 years...
Even today, spending a few hours on the beach making sand pies, having a picnic or reading quietly still gives me the same pleasure, no doubt regressive and perhaps sometimes selfish.
If you've chosen Argeles for your stay, you'll undoubtedly enjoy visiting these magnificent beaches, which offer everyone a wonderful moment of relaxation. Here are my favorites for each activity:
- North beach: with a bit of hills and vegetation, the best place to take your pet for a walk,
- Pine Beach: ideal for children for pies, racket games, ball games, and other activities... along the shops, the busiest, paid parking in July/August, easy access from the accommodation on foot or by bike (the bike rental shop is a few steps from the accommodation, and terminals for attaching bikes are located all along the beach on the paved promenade),
- Racou beach: free and easy parking in the grassy car park, a few shops to buy ice cream, pizza, snacks (I recommend the Racou Beach Snack, always excellent, fresh, with very good value for money),
And for all these places, the magnificent view of the sea and the Pyrenees mountain range!
Enjoy!
